Dendrobium sulphureum outcross #2984 ('4962' x '4966') (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This miniature grows in cloud forest in the mountains of New Guinea in moderate to moderately bright light at elevations from 2640 to 11,880 ft with most found abovve 1800 ft. The inflorescence normally carries 1 or 2 flowers, but can have up to 4 of the flowers that range from 1/2 to 1". Culture: This is a cool growing orchid uless you happent get a plant from lower elevation parentage. It does well in the same conditions as Dendrobium cuthbertsonii and other high elevation plants of the oxyglossum section. It can be grown potted, but it has done better for me as a mounted plant. In pots I have had some success with New Zealand sphagnum moss in terra cotta, but it needed frequent repotting. It does well with even moisture with a short wet/dry cycle. It is usually just dry before I water it again. Use good quality water and ample humidity for best success. Capsule parent: Dendrobium sulphureum '4962'
