Phalaenopsis deliciosa subsp hookeriana #5609 sibling cros (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: This is a miniature with leaves up to 6” long. The inflorescense blooms over a period of time with several flowers open at once and can produce side branches that extend the blooming. This is a widespread species found from northeast India to the Philippine Islands that grows from sea level to 1650 ft. The climate is warm and moist with a short drier season in the winter. Average night temperatures range from the mid 60’s F in the winter to low 70’s F in the summer. Average day temperatures are from the low 80’s F to the upper 80’s F. Culture: I grow this mounted with 65F nights in a shaded area with most of my other warm growing Phalaenopsis. The mounts have a bit of coconut fiber at the roots so dries quickly. It watered daily with dilute fertilizer from much of the year and it is dry by the next day. I have grown seedling potted in medium bark and have done well with them that way also. I have not been giving mine a drier period in the winter and they still bloom regularly. Parent: Phalaenopsis deliciosa subsp hookeriana |
