Odontoglossum (Nicky Strauss ‘Stonehurst’ FCC/ AOS x Mont Fallu ‘Hawk Hill’) #5748 and #5421 (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Hybrid: The material for this cross comes from Bob Hamilton of Hawk Hill Nursery. He is a well known hybridizer of Odontoglossum who has been working with these for 40 years. The expectations for this hybrid were described as: Huge, tetraploid white with black markings. State-of-the-art, Eric Young Foundation type breeding. I don’t have an image of the clone of Odm. Mont Fallu used in the cross so show a sibling for an idea of the possibilities. Culture: This Odontoglossum hybrid will need cool to cool-intermediata temperatures to thrive. Moderate to moderately bright light. If the temperatures are cool they can do well with the moderately bright light. You don’t want to give them so much light that the leaves feel warm to the touch. Give them year round water and dilute fertilizer. Traditionally grown in fine bark or bark mix. Capsule Parent:Odontoglossum Nicky Strauss ‘Stonehurst’ FCC/ AOS Pollen Parent: Odontoglossum Mont Fallu, a different clone than the parent. |
